The Alta Valtellina Ski Club is proud to be part of the Viessmann FIS World Cup Cross Country. It is thanks to the FIS and to the Central Alps Committee that the Valdidentro has been given the chance to partecipate to this event. Since its foundation in 1972, the Alta Valtellina Ski Club has always been working to build suitable infrastructures both for the training of young athletes and important ski events. In over 30 years of activity, the Alta Valtellina Ski Club has organized many national races and numerous Nordic World Cup races but it is thanks to the Valdidentro Community Council and to the Alta Valtellina Mountain Community that the Valdidentro is now going to host its first Nordic Ski World Cup races. This event results from years of commitment and huge investments starting from 1997 which saw the opening of the Viola Track and the Nordic Ski Centre “Azzurri d'Italia”. Surely this race has not to be seen as an arrival point but as the first step towards the confirmation of the Valdidentro as an important location for the international Nordic ski.. Furthermore, let's not forget about our biathlon track which was inaugurated in 2008 and is – at the moment – the only one in Lombardy. Particular attention has been paid to the publicity of the programme “ High Altitude Training Centre “ a particularly attractive proposal to the teams since the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec (CZE) will start soon after the Valdidentro race. We are working hard to develop this huge project and we invite you to come and check the results.
